Good to see Cassava Press and their latest initiative in the news: The Inaugural Global Black Women’s Non-Fiction Manuscript Prize celebrates the “best in unpublished non-fiction manuscripts” and is open to unpublished Black women based anywhere in the world.
Human rights activist Sylvia Tamale, author and filmmaker Natalie Baszile, professor and literary scholar Carole Boyce Davies and essayist, novelist and scholar Panashe Chigumadzi will sit alongside author, Professor of Creative Writing at Brunel University London and President of the Royal Society of Literature, Bernardine Evaristo, as they read, debate and decide who wins the prize.
The winner gets a publishing contract with Cassava Republic and a $20,000 (£15,840) advance.
The two runners-up will each receive a $5,000 (£3,960) advance and a publishing deal.
